Devil in a Blue Dress (1995)
IMDB rating: 6.50
Plot: It is 1948 in LA and Ezikeal “Easy” Rawlins, an African-American World War II veteran, is looking for work. At his friend’s bar, he is introduced to a white man, DeWitt Albright, who is looking for someone to help him find a missing white woman assumed to be hiding somewhere in LA’s Black community. This woman, Daphane Monet, happens to be the fiancee of a wealthy “blue blood,” Todd Carter, who is currently the favorite in the city’s mayoralty race. Daphane Monet is known to frequent the Black jazz clubs in LA. Easy, innocently, accepts Albright’s offer; however, he quickly finds himself amidst murder, crooked cops, ruthless politicians, and brutalizing hoodlums. This is a Chandler-esque “who-done-it” with an African-American theme.

Can someone explain these lyrics to me please?!?!?!?!?
Okay, so the song is A Dust land Fairytale by The Killers
I just need someone to interpret the meaning of these lyrics for me.
Dustland fairytale begining
Just another white trash
County kiss
Sixty one
Long brown hair and foolish eyes
Look just like you gone into some
Kind of slick chrome american prince
A blue jean serenade
Moon river what’d you do to be
But i don’t believe you
Some cinderella in a party dress but
She was looking for a night gown
I saw the devil warping up his hands
Hes getting ready for the show down
I saw the minute that i turn away
I got my money on a pond tonight
Change came in disguised of revelation
Set his soul on fire
She said she’d always knew he’d come around
And the decades disappear like sinking
Ships we persevere god gives us hope
But we still fear
We don’t know
The mind is poison castle in the sky
Sit stranded vandalized
The draw bridge is closing
Some cinderella in a party dress but
She was looking for a night gown
I saw the devil warping up his hands
Hes getting ready for the show down
I saw the ending were they turned the page
I threw my money and i ran away
Strait to the vally of the great divide
And were the dreams roll high
And were the wind dont blow
Out here the good girls die
And the sky wont snow
Out here the bird don’t sing
Out here the field don’t grow
Out here the bell don’t ring
Out here the bell don’t ring
Out here the good girls die
Now cinderella don’t you go to sleep
Its such a bitter form of refuge
Ahh don’t you know the kingdoms under siege
And everybody needs you
Is there still magic in the midnight sun
Or did you leave it back in sixty-one
In the of the cadence in the young mans eyes
And were the dreams roll high
i love this song, my friend said it was about his mum who had cancer, and how his parents met (this is brandon flowers btw) so it kind of makes sense from there like:
"County kiss
Sixty one
Long brown hair and foolish eyes
Look just like you gone into some
Kind of slick chrome american prince
A blue jean serenade"
describing what he looks like etc.
his mum obviously assumes the role of cinderella in the song aswell.
"She said she’d always knew he’d come around" seems like they guy wasn’t sure about her at first but she was sure that eventually he’d change his mind and something would happen?
also the ending
"Now cinderella don’t you go to sleep
Its such a bitter form of refuge
Ahh don’t you know the kingdoms under siege
And everybody needs you"
going to sleep is obviously a metaphor for her dying and how he doesn’t want her to die. and everybody needs you is that like people need advice and stuff from her.
if that makes any sense at all, then i hope it helps.
i love this song too, so some of it’s just my personal interpretation of it.

google/youtube their video for this song
it’s amazing and it kinda explains it better once you see things acted out
its about like the past/history, some kind of relationship that was torn apart too soon kind of thing
