NAVY OR ARMY, which is the better branch?
Ok so the only way I can go to college is if I get an ROTC Scholarship. I have a 4.2 GPA and I’m involved in 3 varsity sports so I think I’ll have a really good shot of getting a scholarship, but I’m not sure which branch to go into. I want to be a doctor, I DO NOT WANT TO FIGHT! So as long as I understand correctly, I can get my degree for free and then serve for so long, is that right? Well So what branch is better, Navy or Army? I would do Marines but I don’t have the disipline for THAT, they’re hard-core. Please help me out because my parents don’t want me to do it so I want alot of info so they can accept it more.
HELLO, I"M GONNA BE A DOCTOR…that’s it, no nuclear w/e, please answer the question being asked…I’m a senior so i need to apply for this soon!
I would like to travel but if I don’t I don’t really care. Like if I’m a doctor they could station me at a hosplital on a base or something right?
And I already said I’m joining so I can go to college 100% free with the ROTC scholarship
maybe the air force
if not then the navy,

if you are that smart do the Nuclear Program in the Navy. I you did have to "fight" then you would be in a sub away from everything. That’s what my brother did. O and you get a lot of schooling.

What do you like to do? If you get seasick dont join the navy, stay away from the army if you dont want to be gone for long periods of time. No one branch is better, they all perform services to keep our country safe. Both have med rates that they need filled but they will want you to deploy so be prepared. As a doc you wont fight in the Army or Navy but you will be near the front lines helping our wounded boys which is very important. You will get your degree at no cost but it wont seem free when your in a tent in Iraq patching up soldiers. Think it over and make the right choice. Good Luck and God bless.

"if you want to be stationed in south korea near the north- south korean border and be on vigil, join the navy."
OMG!! Where do you guys come up with these answers?! Please do us all a favor and stop pulling responses from your butt, this one stinks to high heaven!
Let me help you out with this answer. As a 20 year veteran of the Navy I’ve never been and nor will I ever be stationed in the places the not so smart person listed above. The reason is quite simple, THERE ARE NO DUTY STATIONS THERE!! We do go to Korea for port visits and there is a communications base in Sasebo Korea but there is no guarantee that you’ll be stationed there and ultimately it’s up to you. What the Navy has provided me over the past 20 years that the Army will not, is TRAVEL. In a 13 year span I’ve been in over 138 cities around the world. Although we have some units on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan I’ll never go because I don’t want to go, there’s enough people in the Navy who want to go to those places to keep me state side. Can you see yourself on patrol with your face in a book? You’ll have much better opportunities to get your education in the Navy than the Army.
Have you taken the ASVAB, is your score a 50 or better? If it’s less it’s likely that you’ll have a tough time joining the Navy these days. Have you ever been arrested since you’ve been born? If so there’s likely a chance that it’ll be harder for you to join the Navy, however it depends on your charge. This includes your juvenile record. The building I work in is on an Army base, I constantly see them up at the crack of dawn and working to God awful hours of the evening. Meanwhile in the morning I’m likely to be turning over again in bed while they’re running and I’m at home with my feet up drinking a beer while they’re in formation.
Ultimately, you need to sit down with a Recruiter from both branches and tell them up front that you’re shopping both branches. Arm yourself before you go to the office with a notepad full of questions, ask any and everything that comes to your mind and carefully listen to the answers. Recruiters are bound by numbers and are therefore may tell you what they think you want to hear to get you to join their particular branch of service. Make them show you everything they’re talking about in black and white, if they can’t show you then likely it’s a lie. When you go to the Army office DO NOT take your original diploma, social security card and birth certificate with you, make copies and turn them over to the Recruiters provided they ask for them. Army Recruiters are notorious for holding your original documents hostage, it’s their way of ensuring that you’ll return so they can attempt to resell you their branch of service. Above all, Good Luck!!
